Workshops

Dealing with life is more difficult when attempted alone. We are social beings and there are untapped resources surrounding you! Find strength with the support and collective wisdom of others. Remember when we would socialize in person prior to the pandemic? We can connect with others again and in meaningful ways.

I have led multiple workshops at the annual Pain Care Skills Conference as well as trainings for medical staff and residents on topics including Sleep: Interventions that Work!, Changing the Pain Brain, Mindfulness and Mind-Body Medicine, Biopsychosocial Model for Pain Management, FND in the ED: Guidelines for HealthCare Staff.

Find strength with the support and collective wisdom of others.

All courses and workshops may be in person or virtual, depending on requests. They can also be adjusted to fit your timeframe: weekly sessions or a one-time meeting; 1 or 2 hours, or more! Topics can also be slanted with a particular population in mind: burnout, workplace conflicts, friend groups or family issues, a specific medical condition, or combined issues.

Contact me to find out what courses are happening now and which ones are coming up! Send in your requests for scheduling a workshop to help reduce the effects of stress.

Mind-Body Approaches to Stress
A course focused on general stress management or tailored to work burnout or specific chronic health conditions. Learn strategies for improved wellness that last! Learn about the neurobiology of the nervous system (fight-flight-freeze-friend) and how powerful mindfulness interventions can be to change the brain’s default tendencies. This course takes time focusing on all areas affected by stress and illness: Sleep, Cognitive Restructuring, Perspective-Taking, Mindful Movements, Social Support, and Communication. Come learn with others or take this to your colleagues and create a more peaceful work space!

ACT : Moving Away From Pain and Toward a More Meaningful Life
Painful life experiences can take us away from the activities we enjoy. Learning to take back your life and all the joy it can offer will be discovered in this course. Learn along with others how stuck we can get by using words and listening to our history. Each participant will play a key role in helping one another see how fused we become with certain identities and ways of being. Breaking free of the rules that do not serve you can be liberating. Take a risk that could result in a more meaningful life. This course uses skills from Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) by exploring behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations and how they impact us…and don’t need to.

Self-Care for the Healthcare Team: Burnout Prevention and Health Maintenance
A workshop that addresses the unhealthy consequences of burnout. Learn about the variables that lead to work distress and the impact on staff and whole businesses. Learn about the neurobiology of stress and how both mental and physical health are negatively affected. Engage in practical exercises that can buffer you against burnout and set up a self-care plan that is accessible at work and home. Come for yourself or bring your whole team!
